While the bible does demand certain values be imbibed, it doesn’t in any way suggest that the fact that we are Christians somehow automatically tames our rage, our panting libido, our intolerance or our impatience.
This often includes choosing not to spend nights together, as Christians believe that sexual immorality should be avoided at all costs.
While Christianity sets forth many guidelines and the end result of all Christian relationships is a lasting, healthy marriage, do not pressure yourself with timelines or feeling that your current partner has to be your soul mate.
Make sure your mentor is one with proven Christian character and convictions and preferably a good marriage record as well; otherwise it might be a case of the blind leading the blind.Christians often cherish strong family ties and think highly of families' and friends' opinions of their partner.Take your partner to meet members of your family and close friends. Is physical involvement your motive for wanting a relationship? Does it lower your resistance to repeating past wrong behavior? Does it take your thoughts from where they should be and place them on what you should not do? If you end up marrying someone else would you regret telling him/her how you were involved with that person? Do you have a clear conscience that you are living by biblical standards for moral purity? In the future, will your memories be healthy and God-honoring or leave a nagging sense of guilt and regret? Do you honestly believe what you are doing is God’s best for you now and for your future?
